Like other communities, quality of life in the Hamptons (and Huntington) is being degraded by the widespread use of leaf blowers and commercial gas-powered maintenance equipment. There’s no escaping the high-pitched, whining drone of the leaf blower and the loud noise of mowers, hedge trimmers, and edgers. They penetrate through walls and windows, and disrupt entire neighborhoods. And furthermore, they pollute our air. Our beautiful neighborhoods have turned into noisy, polluted industrial zones.
Things don’t have to be this way. We can preserve our environment, our health, and our quality of life by learning and taking action.
